Malaysian Girls

Come! Come! Come! I dare to say that this is the first full fledge Malaysian musical which see theatre personalities collaborated extensively with local singer-songwriters in coming out with the compositions. It will definitely offer you an experience that you can never get anywhere anytime soon.

I personally have written 2 new numbers specially for it "Take One Good Look at You" and "Shouting Out My Name". Together with Ariff, I have also written one more, "How Ugly Can It Get". With 5 of us (Minz, Wani Ardy and Khai - the other 3) who contributed close to 15 original numbers which is then rearranged to fit the musical theme / mood, you must not miss this glamourous, stunning and dazzling musical.

The musical will also feature a re-arranged version of "One Day".

Disclaimer: Just because one can compose and possibly sing, that doesn't term you as singer-songwriter. By definition (quoted from wikipedia), "Singer-songwriters are musicians who write, compose and sing their own musical material including lyrics and melodies. As opposed to contemporary popular music singers who write their own songs, the term singer-songwriter describes a distinct form of artistry, closely associated with the folk-acoustic tradition. Singer-songwriters often provide the sole accompaniment to an entire composition or song, typically using a guitar or piano"

Malaysian Girls Sypnosis:
The year’s most glamorous musical is set to explode on the KL stage. Product of an an award-winning team led by esteemed director Joe Hasham OAM along with producer and theatre doyenne Dato' Faridah Merican, MALAYSIAN GIRLS will premiere at klpac followed by a tour to Penang.

MALAYSIAN GIRLS lures you into the exciting world of a beauty pageant. The heady mix of glamour and talent is enticing in itself. Throw in the drama that unfolds when there is such a coveted title to be won and such differing notions of beauty together with Mark Beau de Silva’s humorous writing, you are in for an absolute treat.

The musical pits two camps against each other. On one side you have Serenity Billion – the person who started the Malaysian Girls pageant to seek and define a uniquely Malaysian ideal of beauty. On the other side you have the flashy Ray Sanjay and the go-getting Jasmin Hibiscus. They have bigger and bolder ideas, one which includes an ‘international’ view of beauty. Just how ugly can it get?

MALAYSIAN GIRLS is a show in every sense from its catchy songs and explosive dance moves to the glitzy costumes and high energy performance. The music is a bold fusion of iconic chart-topping hits and equally captivating numbers composed by singer-songwriters specially for this production.

Come and experience the glitzy world of a beauty pageant told in song, dance and drama… all on six-inch heels!
