Holiday

Holiday
Lyrics by Sesha and Ian Chow
Composed by Ian Chow

Verse:
G A F#m G
Its 6 in the morning,
It always comes without warning,
The sound of my alarm clock ringing,
Telling me another day is beginning,

It’s so hard at times,
Cause I just can’t open my eyes,
There’s so much to be done in a day,
Otherwise I won’t get my pay (and) that’s not ok!

Chorus:
Em G D A
I wanna run far, far away,Cause I need a holiday,
I need to get away,I just need to find a new place,
Give myself a new face,So I won’t be in daze.

Verse:
G A F#m G
At my desk the work starts piling,
All the phones just keep on ringing,
That’s when people started yelling,
Then the rain started pouring,
Then I feel like I am floating,
As if I am day dreaming,
Maybe I am contemplating,
Why am I not running?

Bridge:
D Em F#m G
Don’t care for what they have to say,
Don’t care if they take all of my pay,
All I want is my holiday,
All I need is to hide away.

Tuning: DADAAE

In this album, there are 2 songs which have full band arrangement but minus the bass guitar. Holiday is one of it and the other is What If which both was release as the “single of this album”. This was also the first time where I experiment with the sound of timpani. In the recording, the song is played using a different tuning but usually during live performance, I tend to play it on the normal tuning because it is just too troublesome to be tuning my guitar before and after. The lyrics are pretty straight forward except for the second part of the second verse which is little bit abstract. Like I always said in the gig, this is a song that you may want to play for your boss….but you may end up losing your job too.
